HIV-PrEP: Pre-exposure prophylaxis - your protection against HIV<\/h2>\n

HIV-PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis)<\/strong> is a highly effective measure to prevent HIV infection. While condoms continue to offer the best protection against sexually transmitted diseases, there are situations in which they are not used. In such cases, it is an effective alternative that reduces the risk of HIV transmission by up to 86 %.<\/p>\n

What is HIV-PrEP?<\/h3>\n

Pre-exposure prophylaxis is a specially developed HIV medication that is taken preventively to prevent infection - especially during unprotected sexual intercourse. It can either be taken daily as a tablet or as required according to a set schedule. HIV-PrEP is particularly suitable for high-risk groups in order to significantly reduce the likelihood of infection.<\/p>\n

PrEP is available in our pharmacy per pack of 28 for \u20ac47.90 in blister packs or with 30 pieces for \u20ac49.90 in a tin. Prescriptions are issued exclusively by specialist doctors and treatment centres. Regular HIV tests and medical check-ups are required for its use to ensure your safety and effectiveness.<\/p>\n

Assumption of costs for HIV-PrEP<\/span><\/h2>\n

Since 1 April, health insurance companies have been covering the costs of HIV-PrEP. Insured persons (with the exception of those insured by the independent doctors' insurance funds) receive a reimbursement of up to 60 euros per month<\/b> for the medication and 25 Euro per quarter<\/b> for the doctor's interview.<\/span><\/p>\n

How are the costs covered?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Costs are reimbursed in the same way as for elective doctor invoices via the websites MySV.at<\/b><\/span><\/a>, oegk.at<\/b><\/span><\/a>, svs.at<\/b><\/span><\/a> and bvaeb.at<\/b><\/span><\/a>. Both the invoice and the prescription must be submitted with the application. If submitted by post, a copy of the e-card must also be enclosed. In the case of digital submission, the SV number is already stored.<\/span><\/p>\n

Which invoices can be submitted?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Invoices for 3 monthly packs as well as 3 individual monthly invoices can be submitted. The prerequisite is that both the prescription and the invoices have an issue date after 1 April 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
