#wienliebe Festival on Rathausplatz
From 24 to 26 May 2024 (Fri: 2 pm to 10 pm, Sat: 10 am to 10 pm & Sun: 10 am to 6 pm), the #wienliebe event will take place for the first time. It introduces its audience to elements of culture, cuisine and arts and crafts that make Vienna so liveable and lovable. The festival by Vienna for Vienna embodies enjoyment, conviviality and cosiness. For 3 days, residents and visitors are invited to discover the many pleasures of life in the federal capital in one place.
Viennese cuisine, coffee house, wine tavern and drinking culture will be celebrated. Culturally, there will be a number of renowned representatives of Viennese music as well as other “typically Viennese” programme items. In cooperation with the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, several Viennese businesses will also present their handicrafts and food producers will present a market with goods from Vienna.
Culinary delights on the town hall square
6 renowned, traditional and long-established restaurateurs will treat visitors to delicious delicacies from Viennese cuisine, including the traditional Viennese restaurant Zum Schwarzen Kameel, which will be serving up numerous Viennese classics. Plachutta will prepare “the most famous Tafelspitz in the world” at #wienliebe. The Schweizerhaus in the Prater, one of Vienna's most popular restaurants, will serve the popular Stelze with Krügerl. Bitzinger, Vienna's traditional sausage stand, will be represented next to the Albertina. Because the Heurigen culture should not be missing, a Viennese Heuriger will offer a buffet with cold dishes such as sandwiches, filled rolls, various platters and savoury dumplings. Those who prefer to savour sweet temptations will get their money's worth at Gerstner K. u. K. Hofzuckerbäcker.
In addition to the wide selection of freshly prepared dishes, guests can look forward to first-class, freshly tapped beers from the federal capital at Ottakringer and Wiener Bier directly in front of City Hall. The event will also include the festive presentation of the Vienna Wine Award, which has been honouring the city's best wines since 2005. The winning wines and over 80 other first-class wines can be tasted directly on site at the Vienna Wine Award Bar.
Large cultural programme
Guests can enjoy exquisite music from Vienna on the large stage in front of the town hall. The cultural programme at #wienliebe ranges from traditional to modern genres, from Viennese song and musicals to hip-hop.
Arts and crafts, businesses and Viennese agriculture
#wienliebe aims to offer the capital's many craftspeople and agricultural businesses a stage to present their work and products to a large audience. In cooperation with the Vienna Chamber of Commerce, exhibitors present themselves at several stands on Rathausplatz, where visitors can find all kinds of handmade products: from jewellery to textile work or artistically crafted candles.
In the neighbouring Rathauspark, guests can stroll through a food market with a selection of vegetables, fruit and meat cultivated and processed within the Vienna city limits.
