Warm summer evenings and hot summer nights
We all enjoy warm summer evenings, but sleeping at over 20 °C can quickly turn into a summer nightmare. If it's humid in our bedrooms, we start sweating to cool our bodies down. No more restful sleep. These 10 recommendations will help you sleep more comfortably on hot summer nights.
Our recommendations for you
- Pyjamas in the fridge: put your pyjamas in a plastic bag and put it in the fridge. Nothing is more pleasant than slipping into pre-cooled pyjamas. They don't cool us down for more than 15 minutes, but they do help us to fall asleep.
- Hot water bottle becomes a „cooling bottle“: Fill a hot water bottle with water and place it in the fridge a few hours before going to bed. You can then enjoy the cooling effect. Caution: Do not place the „hot water bottle on your stomach or neck. This can result in bladder inflammation or tension.
- Tip from the south: Put sheets, pillowcases and blankets in the fridge before going to bed. Then snuggle up in cool dreams.
- Improve the indoor climate: Hang a wet sheet in front of the window. Use a cotton sheet, as cotton stores moisture well and only releases it slowly. The drying process removes heat from the air. This can cool the bedroom well for a few hours.

- Refreshing things from the bathroom: Place a cold, damp towel on the back of your neck or on your forehead. This will refresh you while you sleep.
- A warm shower: In summer, you should not shower too cold. This stimulates your circulation and causes you to sweat unnecessarily. A lukewarm shower relaxes the body and helps you to fall asleep restfully.
- Cold foot baths: Cold foot baths can refresh you on hot summer nights. While blood is redirected to the legs, the circulation and head can relax. This allows us to calm down more quickly and fall asleep more relaxed.
- Correct ventilation: It is best to air the room early in the morning or late at night. Avoid draughts. This can lead to a tense neck.
- Sheets instead of eiderdown: Change the down duvet with a light sheet. It is best to use a cotton sheet. Natural fibres release moisture better than satin.
- Heat must stay outside: darken your windows and block out the heat. Prefer light colours when darkening, as these reflect the sun's rays. Dark colours, on the other hand, retain the heat.
We wish you restful nights with pleasant freshness - may the summer evenings be relaxed and cool for you despite the heat.
